Background

An American History of Rock and Soul transforms how students learn US history by using music as a primary source to explore the nation’s story. From the birth of the Blues to Nirvana and Public Enemy, students dive deep into how genres like Rock and Roll, Soul, R&B, Electronica, and Hip Hop didn’t just reflect American culture—they helped shape it. This one-semester elective for grades 9-12 brings history to life through the powerful lens of popular music.
